Katie fell in love with the art of bellydance in 2004. She began studying and performing traditional Egyptian Cabaret style bellydance under the instruction of Athena Lou on the Big Island. She took her first tribal fusion bellydance class when she moved to Oahu in 2007 with Natalie Phoenix and was an active member of her troupe, Phoenix Dance Project.  She started taking classes with Kalae Kaina shortly after and is now a member of her troupe, Shakti Dance Movement.  She loves the sisterhood that the Hawaii bellydance community has brought into her life and hopes to bring joy to others through sharing her passion for dance.

In the past, she has studied traditional Okinawan dance.  In addition to bellydance, she is also presently studying Latin dance and became an assistant bachata instructor in 2014.
